Every month we get together with a crew of 15 English Language Learners* to share culture, practice speaking and make a GIANT pot of soup.
Our second Soup Camp is on Thursday, March 26 @ Bishop Harrison Center, 1342 Lancaster Ave, from 5-7pm.
Our second soup hails from Sudan. It’s a vegan version of Sharbat bel Dakwa, made with peanuts we roast and pound ourselves, sweet potato, fresh mulukhiyah, onions, ginger, fresh cayenne peppers (not too much), coriander and wild cumin seeds.
Soup is presale only** and will be ready for pickup from 5-7pm. When you pickup, dip downstairs to meet the chef and enjoy a cool cooking demo. (Bring a little $ if you’d like some freshly baked cookies from a brilliant student / baker from Syria.)
When you buy a soup, you give a soup. Big ♥️ to SCSD’s Refugee Assistance Program for helping distribute soup direct to families.
*Everyone attends English class 5 days a week. They’re also enrolled in a kitchen skills & management course. If you operate a kitchen (restaurant, bakery, hospital, school, etc.) and need smart, reliable staff, drop us an email!
**If we’re sold out and you want a heads up for next time, drop us an email…
